As we enter into the holiday season, it is good to reflect on the many blessings in life and to give thanks.  That is difficult to do sometimes, isn’t it?

Times can be so difficult we fail to see the possibility of life beyond the chaos…….

And yet, we serve a God who continually calls us to hope.  Even though hope seems to elude us.  We are people of a promise.  A promise that we will never truly be alone.

In all of our hardships, tragedies, uncertainty, and celebration, we are assured we are never by ourselves.  God is present.  And for that we are to be thankful.

Next week we celebrate Thanksgiving.  And as we pause, for a moment, he have the hope of gratitude which calls us forward.  We are called to be a people who give thanks to the creator of the universe for our existence.

One of my favorite hymns to sing at any time of the year is “Give Thanks.  It goes like this:

Give thanks with a grateful heart,

Give thanks to the Holy One,

Give thanks because God’s given Jesus Christ, the Son

And now, let the weak say I am strong,

Let the poor say I am rich,

Because of what the Lord has done for us…..Give thanks!

The message for us is to give thanks…..In the middle of all of the turmoil or joy we face, give thanks!

An attitude of gratitude can turn your Thanks-giving into Thanks-living!  And that just may be what makes God happy!

Happy  Thanksgiving…….and Thanks-Living!
