A Pastor’s Perspective
One week ago, I had the opportunity to meet my daughter, Amy, in St. Louis. She was there for a work-related conference. I had a grand scheme to take her to dinner at someplace in the area that had been recommended to me, like the “Hill”, a steak place downtown, or a New Orleans style area that was close by.
As it turned out, all of the group she had responsibility for didn’t make it on time, and she had to stay near the hotel to make sure they were checked in and had what they needed. Dinner happened right around the hotel. So much for big plans!
The change of plans created more space so we could spend more time catching up. We had a great meal, and I really enjoyed the short time we spent together, even though it was short. I was thankful for being able to see her.
Life is a lot like that. Sometimes we just have to take the opportunities we are given, and be thankful for them, whether our big plans work out or not! As we walk this road, I hope that you will recognize the opportunities to be thankful which are surrounding you, and that you will also create those same opportunities for those around you!
Have a great 4th of July! Be safe out there!
See you Sunday, Gary
