Be strong and bold

“Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.” -Deuteronomy 31:6

Moses had led the people out of bondage, crossed the Red Sea, and given the people the Law on My. Sinai.  He had been with them through it all, the whole time, for forty years in the wilderness.  But just as they were about to cross over into the promised land, he realizes he won’t see it; he’ll die before the people cross the Jordan.  Not one to despair, he pulls Joshua aside—the leader who will follow Moses and lead the people into a land flowing with milk and honey.  “Take heart,” he tells him.  “Be bold and courageous.  You have nothing to fear, for the Lord your God is with you.  God will never fail or forsake you.”

Take heart, my friends, because the Lord our God is with us, and God will never fail or forsake us.  And that’s Good News!

Blessings and Peace,
Pastor Ron

For October 11, 2020, we will look at Philippians 2:1-13, a famous passage which contains a beautiful, ancient hymn sung by the earliest Christians, displaying the humble nature of the Christ and how we must strive to have “The Same Mind as Christ,” the same sweet surrender that leads to life.

Worship
For the month of October, we will be studying Paul’s letter to the Philippians.  In these uncertain times, with the divisive nature of politics in our nation, amidst mistrust and struggle, it is my hope that we will look to Paul’s words finding comfort and purpose, to even find joy and peace again.  If you look at Paul’s life, he suffered greatly.  He was beaten and imprisoned, and yet, he kept going, doing the work of the Gospel, spreading the love of Christ.  And despite writing this letter from prison, his joy is exuberant, and his hope genuine, all because of his faith and the life he found in Jesus Christ.

Each Sunday we will look at a short passage from each chapter.  Philippians is only four chapters long, and I encourage you to read all of it in one sitting.  Then, go back, and look again at each passage.

October 4, 2020: Philippians 1:21-30, “A Life Worthy”
